About the doctor:
Dr. Smith completed his undergraduate studies in Biology at Northeastern University in Boston, MA in 1985. He graduated Cum Laude in 1991 from Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward, CA. He is a member of Pi Tau Delta, the Chiropractic National Honor Society. During his internship Dr. Smith was chosen as Clinic Intern Supervisor, and twice was awarded Chiropractic Excellence awards, voted on by his peers and professors.
He has post-graduate education in manual & soft-tissue therapy; full credentialing in Active Release Techniques, ART®, including Biomechanics and the new Nerve Entrapment Protocols. He is also one of the only chiropractors in the nation to have held the Travell Trigger Point Therapist certificate. His instrument-assisted techniques include Graston Technique, Sound Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization technique (SASTM) and his own highly sought-after technique which is still in its infancy. He has additional post-graduate education in neurology, soft-tissue trauma and repair, and laser. This year he looks forward to attaining his Manipulation Under Anesthesia license, an exciting new frontier.
Dr. Smith is available to sit as an Expert Witness in Virginia. This includes Workers’ Compensation cases for musicians as well as Motor Vehicle Accident cases. Cases are accepted on an individual basis.
When he isn’t tableside, Dr. Smith enjoys an active lifestyle with his wife Lauren that includes drumming, kayaking, golf, biking off-road, yoga, training in the gym and chasing down his six-year-old daughter, who he believes carries the Chiropractic gene.
